A west African epic brought to life through a vivid animation film. A universal story about greed and the inescapability of fate, set in a colourful and timeless universe where animals have the gift of speech, hunters handle spirits and troubadours “sing” about your future. As the firstborn prince, Sunjata’s role is to protect his people from the terror of Sumauro – a hunter turned bad. But will our reluctant – and, more so, unaware ─ hero, take up his destiny and bring peace to his people?
Sunjata is a musical on African culture and development, covered with a sauce of comedy, flavoured with a sound dose of edutainment. Colourful, cell-shaded animation with a great sense for contemporary as well as traditional African graphics and music.
